Loving Contrasts - Chapter 18.2

“You like that, huh?” Kali grinned, noting what had captured his attention.
Chandler nodded avidly. “Most definitely. You are obviously up on your collector’s game, girl.”
“I try to be. By the way, you can have that as a belated wedding present.”
“I couldn’t.” Chandler started carefully removing the jersey from the wall even as he spoke.
Kali burst out laughing. “Clearly…you can.” She chortled and guffawed a few more seconds, then turned to her sister and said, “Your husband is a hoot.”

“Make that five thousand hoots.” Inaya grinned, looking pleased that they were getting along so well.
“Flattery will get you everywhere with me,” Chandler told his wife, causing her to grin wider. “And thanks so much for the gift,” he said, turning to smile at his sister-in-law.
“You’re most welcome,” Kali replied as he gave her the wall tacks that had held the jersey up.
As Chandler folded the jersey just as carefully as he’d taken it down, he turned to his brother-in-law and said, “By the way, Neil, I can get you any music that you want. That way you don’t have to borrow Inaya’s anymore.”
“Great idea! Why didn’t I think of that?” Inaya snapped her fingers. “Chandler has tons of free music at his disposal, both album versions and radio editions. Some he hasn’t even opened or listened to yet because of time restraints.”
“Thanks, man.” Neil gave him an appreciative nod.
“Ahh…trying to score more brownie points with the in-laws, huh?” Kali said, showing off healthy teeth and gums that matched the health in her fit, well-toned body.
“Is it working?” Chandler grinned.
“You bet it is, brother-in-law.” Kali laughed. Her trademark Seabrook brown eyes twinkled with mirth. “Or shall I say, soon-to-be uncle.” She looked down and rubbed her flat belly in the red sundress she wore.
Chandler’s eyes bucked at the same time that he heard Inaya gasp. “You’re pregnant?” they said simultaneously.
“Yep. I knocked her up real good,” Neil said, beaming with happiness as he moved to hug his wife from behind.
“Yes, he did.” Kali said as her husband gently rubbed her stomach.
“Aww…that’s so sweet. I can’t wait to be an auntie,” Inaya said, standing beside Chandler.
“How do you feel about being a mother?” Chandler draped his left arm about her waist.
Inaya grinned up at him. “I can’t wait to be one of those, too.”
Chandler chuckled huskily. “I think I can help you with that.” He immediately started to calculate how soon they could bring that vision to pass once she got off birth control.
July – just in time for the surprise honeymoon trip I’m planning, he silently estimated with a wide smile.
