One of our readers (Lilo) suggested that I probably didn’t need to use the quotations with Subrina’s undercover name. Example: ‘Bree’.
Although I deliberately did that to eliminate any confusion as I switched back and forth between names while she's undercover, if y’all agree with Lilo that the quotations are not really necessary for clarity, I'll stop using them. No worries. After all, I only wrote it that way for y'all and it would save me some keystrokes.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
Suprina/Mi’Chelle
I did need the quotes in the beginning to help me keep up, but I got it now so it won't be a problem for me either way. BTW, I know I haven't commented, but I have been reading. I have been so swamped at work I haven't had a chance. I am loving Cesear though Ricky needs to catch a clue and Surbrina I am LOVING the fact that she is BIG BLACK AND BEAUTIFUL and CONFIDENT.
ReplyDeletei agree with Carmel Beauty.... no need for the quotations from this point on!
ReplyDeleteCarmel B: I completely understand. There are some readers who CAN'T comment because they're reading at work and it's simply not allowed. So no worries about that. Just keep handling yo' bizness. lol.
ReplyDeleteRicky needs to catch a clue and a bullet, IMO. lol. I'm still mad with him for what he did to Leesha.
It was my pleasure to creative a female character that was BBB AND confident. Subrina's gonna be a tough act to follow.
Carmel B: P.S. Thanks for weighing in on the quotation and name issue.
ReplyDeleteKim: Thanks for the extra feedback, too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we need the quotes at this point since we are keeping up with the story - just my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteMs Jo-Jo: Okay, y'all have convinced me to omit the quotes with Bree's nickname. I'll stop doing that tonight.
ReplyDeletePrina, I posted my response on 12.4. Love ya!!
ReplyDeleteI second what Kim said, I'm cool without the quotations
ReplyDeleteI am good now, I don't need to see quotation around Subrina aka Bree name. Thank you you are very consider.
ReplyDeletei only said that 'cause i read a book that had the same situation and they didnt put the quotes by the character's name.
ReplyDeletedidnt know i was going to get a whole "authors note" lol
I know I'm late but either would have been fine for me.
ReplyDelete@ Lilo- Ms. Frazier is always looking out for her readers so I wouldn't expect anything less of her!
To all: Thanks for the feedback on the quotes issues. I needed to hear from you before I proceeded along that same pathway or switched gears.
ReplyDeleteLilo: I took your comments before the group so that everybody could have a chance to speak on the issue and to see how the group felt about the quotes as a whole.
I hope I didn't embarrass you by shining the spotlight on you, Lilo. If so, next time we can go the private route. You can email me your concerns about the story privately and I can address them privately and/or post the issue as from an anonymous reader on the blog. Either way works for me. This option is available to others as well, not just Lilo.
Latrice and Cinquetta: Thanks for feeling my heart on the issue.
no im cool lol.
ReplyDeleteLilo: Okay. :)
